Brock Porter Burry, Accident Bayard, NE Obituary, Death – Family Mourns Beloved 20-Year-Old Lineman Graduate

The Bayard, Nebraska, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Brock Porter Burry, who passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the age of 20. His sudden passing has left family, friends, classmates, and neighbors grieving the loss of a remarkable young man whose kindness, humility, and unwavering work ethic touched everyone who knew him.

A recent graduate of the Northeast Community College Utility Lineman Program, Brock had been eagerly preparing to begin his career. He looked forward to a future built on hard work, determination, and serving others, embracing every opportunity with quiet confidence and genuine enthusiasm.

Throughout his life, Brock demonstrated resilience and discipline, qualities shaped during his years as a wrestler. Those who knew him remember that his greatest accomplishments were not measured by trophies or achievements, but by the compassion, generosity, and respect he showed to others every day.

Brock found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, challenging friends and family to games of chess, and delighting those around him with magic tricks. He also had a deep passion for music and treasured attending concerts, creating lasting memories with the people he loved. Whether spending time outdoors, gathering with family, or connecting with friends, Brock had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated.

His willingness to help others never went unnoticed. Friends and loved ones describe him as someone who never hesitated to lend a hand, always putting others before himself. His gentle spirit, strong character, and outstanding work ethic earned him the admiration of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Brock is lovingly survived by his parents, Brent and Kimberly Burry; his brother, Bryce Burry (Grace Elvehjem); his sister, Grace Burry; his bonus brother and cousin, Kolby Houchin; his grandfather, Donald Burry; his grandmother, Jeanne Houchin; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Burry, and his paternal grandfather, Hugh Houchin.

A funeral service celebrating Brock’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Bayard High School Auditorium in Bayard, Nebraska, with Pastor Bill Ferrero officiating. Burial will follow at Bayard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will support a scholarship established in Brock’s memory for vocational and technical students.

Though Brock’s life was far too brief, the love, kindness, and quiet strength he shared will continue to inspire those who knew him. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
